By Nathan Roberts

It’s always fun to get a great deal on airfare. Especially if you get last minute airfare cheap. Those travel plans you’d been putting off or just now came up, you may now have the chance to do without burning a few holes in your pockets. Not only are you saving cash for hotel, car and such, but you also get to brag about all the things you did, and how little you spent to do it.

The main thing to getting last minute airfare cheap is to know all your options, and to have some flexibility with your travel dates. To know your options, you need to do a little quick research. These days it’s easy because you can book a flight online in your pajamas.

So the first step is to pick a destination. Do you want to play the casinos and need cheap air fare las vegas rates? Or maybe you want some sun and beaches, and need hawaii cheap air fare. Or you might even want to backpack through some terrain, so you want to find san diego air fare. No matter where you want to go, the first thing you need to do that so many people overlook, is to choose where you want to go.

Secondly, get some quotes. Get on a computer, go online, go to any search engine like google.com, and type in something like, “last minute airfare cheap”. Look through and pick 10 of the sites in the results. Bookmark all 10 sites, and put them in a travel folder. You don’t have to use them all right now, just have them to reference from later. From those 10, get 5 quotes for your air fare or package from 5 different sites such as Travelocity.com which is always great.

Thirdly, compare the quotes and pick the best air fare or package for you. This is where having flexibility with your travel dates comes in. If you want to get last minute airfare cheap, one of the things that will give you the most options is pushing your travel dates around a bit. That’s always saved me a lot of cash. Check the prices of different departure and return dates, like the middle of the week. See the 2 or more connecting flights, and put “anytime” for your departure time. The great deals of leaving in the middle of the night just might make you a night flyer. If that’s not the case, or you’re on a tight schedule, book a direct flight, or whatever fits for you.

Lastly, if your not too much in a rush, get more quotes at different times of the day. A lot of the time, they make hourly changes to fares.
