By Nathan Roberts

The cool breeze and crashing waves of the clear blue ocean. The warmth of the sun against your skin as you marvel in nature’s tropical purity. These are the things I think of when I think of my times in Hawaii. And I’m often asked, where are the best places to go? What are the best things to do? How will I pay for it? Well here it is all laid out for you, including how you get hawaii cheap air fare. So now, it was kind of hard to narrow it down between all the exotic beaches, tropical scuba diving, surfing, the list is endless really. So I should have some more places that’ll soothe your bones on here soon. But for now, back to the best of the Aloha State.

Let’s start with Oahu, home to capital city Honolulu, Waikiki beach, Diamond Head, and Pearl Harbor. If you’re the type of person that’s really into water activities, Oahu might be the place for you. Oahu has some of the best surfing locations in Waikiki. And for you big wave surfers, they’ve got you covered on the North Shore with waves standing tall at about 5 meters, some of the world’s highest. Add to that great snorkeling at Haunama Bay, which is also an amazing marine sanctuary. It’s also the most modern and inhabited of the Hawaiian Islands, and has the best shopping areas at Aloha Market & Waikiki, as well as the best nightlife at Waikiki for you to really let go.

On the otherhand there’s Kauai, it’s the oldest tropical island with incredible nature surroundings and scenes that had me amazed. It has the Mount Wai’ale’ale, the wettest spot on earth so be prepared, Bali Hai and Hanalei. The hiking is definitely the best here on the Na Pali Coast, and also at Waimea Canyon. It also may be the best for you if your traveling with kids. On Kauai, children are celebrated and the culture revolves around family, or ohana as they say. They’ve also got some great surfing at Hanalei Bay, and beginner surfing at Kalapaki Beach.

Maui, known as the valley isle, is most popular with honeymooners, and is known for its exotic, romantic resorts. They’ve got those nude sunbathing beaches, I still haven’t got the nerve to use by the way, at Little Beach in Makena, and the very exotic Red Sand Beach. There’s a great nightlife at Lahaina, the best scuba diving at Molokini, and the best windsurfing or kitesurfing at Hookipa Beach Park. It’s also known for whale watching, has incredible golf courses, and the huge Haleakala Crater. There’s also lots of stuff for families to do like bamboo forest adventures, glass-bottom boat rides, and volcano exploring. Also the Ocean Center has an open-ocean tank and walk-through glass tube.

The Big Island of Hawaii, named because it actually is the biggest, is all about exploration. They’ve got black sand beaches, waterfalls, volcanoes, tropical rain forests, lava fields, and big game fishing. There’s the nude sunbathing, exotic beaches at Punaluu Black Sand Beach and Mahana Green Sand, and great nature to experience at Kilauea Volcano. Also lots of stuff for families to do at the Kona coast, Hilo which is the rainiest city in America, and you can also go camping.

Lanai is also great for the family. It’s the least crowded, which is great for safety, and you can explore the entire island on foot or by 4×4. You can watch humpback whales and dolphins play off-shore, and learn to hula dance. You can also do some of the best scuba diving at the Lanai Coast.

Molokai is for families as well with a very unique landscape. You can explore untouched beaches, tide pools, open wilderness, and at the real island ranch you can even rope cattle. And if you like to just lay back and look at the stars, the cloudless nights there are perfect.
